During the 30s the Farm Security Administration documented the plight of rural farmers during the Great Depression. The black and white images from the FSA are extremely popular, such as the infamous Migrant Mother, but the color photos are often over looked. I've linked to the collection the Library of Congress has of the color series from the FSA before, but I thought it is worth going back to. I was recently reminded about this series and was amazing at photos I overlooked the first time I went through the collection. So here is your reminder about the collection, or first introduction, if you are a new reader.
The two women on the left have awesome dresses. I especially like the pattern of the left-most woman. Their hats are also pretty swell. Read more about sharecropping on Wiki.
I had to end with this photo, even though I've used one from this same series before. I just love the sense of community...and the spread of sweets isn't too bad either!
