Last weekend Elide & I went to the silent movie at Music Box and afterward we decided to have a picnic. We had everything we needed: lovely cheeses, soft bread, mini-pies, fruit, and a torrential downpour.
Oh yes, everything started out sunny and then it started to sprinkle. We looked at each other and decided that since we were under a tree, we should be fine. And then the rain got heavier and we couldn't help but laugh at ourselves. He we were, dressed nicely and chatting under a tree as if there was no rain storm throwing everything it had at us. I nearly laughed off the bench when Elide daintily dumped water from her saucer and said how it was a shame that our drinks are getting watered down. That was her only complaint! Even though we were soaked to the bone, we had so much fun.
Ah, but the drinks that were getting watered down...yes, Elide brought the cocktail bar with her and it was tasty. She made us Florodoras...
1 1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz raspberry liqueur
orange wedge and marsch. cherry for garnish
Shake together the gin, lime juice, and raspberry liquor and pour into a glass. Top with ginger ale and add your garnishes.
In order to make it picnic friendly, she had the first three ingredients in a thermos and then brought a 12oz bottle of ginger ale and had the fruit in a sandwich bag. It was simple and inconspicuous to put together in the park.
