I return with mended hand. Thank you for being patient while I let my body heal itself. During my blog break I also stepped away from Twitter and Instagram a bit, which felt quite lovely. It gave me a lot more time to read, make, and experiment with new cocktails. I'll will, of course, be reporting to you about all these things soon.
One book that I enjoyed reading and testing while I was resting was Bitters: A Spirited History of a Classic Cure-All, with Cocktails, Recipes, and Formulas. I haven't made any of the bitters from this book yet, but I have made a few of the cocktail recipes. One in particular stole my heart: Sazerac. I highly suggest you try this one out.
Add a few drops of Absinthe or Pernod into a rocks glass and coat bottom of glass
2 oz rye
1/4 oz simple sugar
4 generous dashes of Peychaud's bitters (I put 6-8 dashes)
Mix and garnish with lemon twist.
Enjoy! Now back to my regularly scheduled posting.
