For some reason, one (or both) of those seems like the term I remember.

It's a rhebus or rebus. I love the color of the paper. There's a lovely rebus at Bowne & Co., in the South Street Seaport in NYC. Oh and a fantastic couple made their wedding invitation into a rebus.
