Got some security envelopes lying around? Here's yet another project for using everyone's favorite "junk" mail material. The pictorial step-by-step at Zakka Life is super easy to follow. When you're done with this, you could make some tape, or some bats, or any number of other things!

L.W.A. member and my penpal Katherine sent me a link to this awesome blog run by Evan Kalish called "Going Postal". What he does is visit post offices and tells you about them. He's visited over 2,773 of them according to his sidebar. It's a postal voyeurs dream. I know what I'm doing with my time off from the day job; reading his archive! Here are some of my favorites.

Ana, of The Well-Appointed Desk, shared what all it is she keeps in her Official L.W.A. pouch. It is a mighty little pouch, yesirree. I illustrated what all I keep in mine. Notice that we both like click for color pens, washi tape, Le Pen by Marvy and Palomino Blackwing pencils.

Some of you may be aware that the Letter Writers Alliance has a Flickr group that members and non-members can contribute to. We have been always gotten some amazing images of incoming and outgoing mail (and other postal related items) on that group and I thought it was time to share our favorites on the blog. If you weren't included in this round, no worries, we are going to show our favorites every month on the blog. From the industrious bloggers at Boingboing, comes this gingerbread typewriter. It is 100% edible; even the ribbon is made of rice paper. Made by the amazing Patti Page of Baked Ideas, this is definitely center piece worthy. Right on and Write on!

The Bloesem Kids blog has a whole bunch of how-to projects up for kids, but I think it's unfair to let kids have all the fun. They have easy instructions and pictures to guide you along the way on their project page. It wouldn't be hard at all to increase the size of the pages if you wanted a larger book for your ever-growing stamp collection. You could be more precise about the maps you choose and put the stamps from the countries on their corresponding map pages. And remember, as always, if you make something fun and postal related, share it with us over on the Flickr page!

The excellent blog resource Letterology mainly focuses on vintage typography in advertisements and book covers, but every so often there's something epistolary in nature, like this holiday invitation. I like that Santa is going to this party after the 25th. That means he gets to kick back and relax a little. They also did any amazing piece on scans from an old stationery catalog and vintage office and art supplies.
