Back in December, the Letter Writers Alliance passed a milestone. We reached a membership base of 2000! That's over 2000 people who believe, sincerely, that the handcrafted, posted letter is a valuable and valid form of communication in our futuristic world. Thank you all for believing in this and your continued support. I hope you all have full mailboxes in 2012!
To celebrate, we're having a contest! Rules are simple- send a cover {that's an envelope} decorated in any way you choose commemorating our 2000th member. Send it to our P.O. Box listed in the sidebar. Entries must be postmarked by the 31st of January, 2012. We'll photograph all the entries and put them on Flickr. Vote for your favorites by leaving a comment on the entry. Play nice. You can vote for more than one favorite, but don't leave multiple comments on single entries please. Winners will receieve some L.W.A. goodies! Winners will be announced on Valentine's Day.
The covers will become part of the new L.W.A. archive; so don't send something you'll want back. That's right, starting now, any mail sent to the P.O. Box will be archived for posterity. I still don't know where I'm going to put it all, but let that be a problem for research librarian interns in the future!
Here's our first entry from L.W.A. member, Dave S. {and thank you note for said entry} just so you can get an idea of what it's all about. Welcome to 2012! Write more letters!
