The annual U.S.P.S. holiday issues are now available. The Christian religous issue this year is a photographic stamp, and not the traditional reproduction of an old master painting. I'm still unsure as to how I feel about it. The more secular Santa issue is cutesy without being too cutesy. I like that the stamps can work together very well as a conjoined unit, but don't loose anything when you use them singly. All-in-all, I find them both rather boring and I'm disappointed in the lack of a Hanukka or other celebratory stamp. There isn't even a non-Santa "secular" issue. Lucky for me that 2011's Eid stamps are still available, as well as the baubles. Perhaps this is the downside of the forever stamp- less designs in the long run.

I think they are somewhat humdrum also.
I absolutely love the holiday baubles stamps... I even found some "matching" vintage stationery on Etsy! I guess once Christmas hits the stores, I can start mailing Christmas letters!

I like both of this year's holiday issues! I'm excited to use them. The Nativity silhoutte is very cool. It's nice to see a modern variation on the annual Madonna & Child theme. Can't wait to pick them up! The Santa stamps will be especially awesome for the dozens of children's cards & packages that I send every year... yay! Sweet and playful.
I love that last year's classic Hanukkah and Eid stamps are still available too.
Now, if only there were a cool Halloween stamp issue... anyone have any of the old Monster's series still lying around??

You are the fourth letter writer I know to want those monster stamps. I want them too!
