The Dark Side of Mail

I've gotten these letters. I'm sure you've gotten them too, or something very, very similar. They are crafty little pieces of devious work. There's a really interesting run-down of some of the worst junk mail offenses commited by these "official" looking missives over on Evil Mad Scientist. I liked seeing the collection and knowing what to watch for in the future. Of course, they aren't totally useless; you can always turn your junk mail into mail art!

I've never received any mail like those, but the junk mail I cannot stand are all of the pre-approved credit offers I get. One day, I received three of them from the same company, and in a week I'll receive about 5 or more. I have two last names, so they get sneaky with it and use the one as my first name. About two weeks ago, I decided I had enough and started sending opt-out letters to the three addresses listed on the offers. Since, then I have sent a total of nine opt-out letters because I decided that each time I received one of those letters I would send a response.
