Abe’s Penny is a "micro-magazine" created by Anna and Tess Knoebel. "What’s
a micro-magazine," you say, "and what’s a micro-magazine have to do my love of
the mail?" Well, Abe’s Penny is a
literary edition that is published in postcard form. Each volume contains four
postcards that subscribers receive one by one, once per week, for one month.
Each postcard features an image and a few lines of text. The full set of four
postcards is a full story.
I love the idea of a serialized postcard magazine. The anticipation for
what’s coming next, the knowledge that you’re getting something awesome in the
mail; brilliant! They were recently interviewed online and Anna said, "Our
current aim is simple: to pursue the dialogue. Of course, any print publication
competes with online, but we’ve received such positive feedback. People still
want tangible things." I think her statement is something we can all agree
with. They’ve
had three editions so far with a fourth coming out in June. You can see examples of the first editions here.
Love this idea! Thank you :-)

I just received a link to something interesting - 1000 artists submitting 500 postcards (I know, a BIG number) to an exhibit in NYC - and what will be created is an unbound book with all of the cards. Wild idea. title of show: a book about death
