Map Envelope

A new way to say "Wish you were here" inspired by the technological prowess of Google Maps. Conceived by artist Beste Miray Dogan and put into practice by Teevio, this envelope unfolds to reveal a precise location. You can make your own here.

 

There's also a funny concept going around by Yanko Design for Google to print and send actual letters for you in clever envelopes.

I feel their envelopes may be a bit too clever. After all, what if you live to the right of the recipient?

You could absolutely have a map oriented differently -- i.e. with north being down -- if the sender lived "to the right" of the recipient. But there would still be alignment issues that would make this seemingly impossible to automate. Still really cute idea though -- for an Internet meme anyway.

Very clever designs and inspiration! However, as noted, the second style of envelope is very hard to execute, unless you have a friend located north/west and precisely the right distance.
