We are very happy to introduce something new for LWA members: LWA currency. Yep, you read correctly, The Letter Writers Alliance now has its own currency called Inklings. Only, there is no way to buy inkling, you must earn them.
LWA is a community, so when you support the community, you get an inkling as a way to show our gratitude. Collect your inklings and then redeem them for exclusive LWA items, even LWA stationery. How do you earn inklings? Well...
Ways you earn inklings:
• Attending an LWA sponsored Letter Social
• Hosting a Letter Social
• Completing LWA mailing tasks
• Doing unique/interesting things to promote mail/letter writing
• Doing unique/interesting things to support the Post Office
• Visiting the LWA booth at craft fairs
As for the types of items you can redeem for your inklings, here's a taste:
Those who attended either of the letters socials in San Francisco & Vermont (respectively) this past weekend were the first ones to have the chance to earn inklings. Those of you closer to LWA HQ have your first chance to earn inklings at our letter social on the 13th at Greer. Details are on the sidebar.
Those of you far far away, please dont' fret, we shall soon be having letter tasks on the blog for your chance to earn your inklings.

Sofia - The San Francisco letter social just happened this past Saturday. It was at Arch Drafting Supply and they are planning on doing another one. Here is a post about the social: http://goodmailday.wordpress.com/2011/09/17/snail-mail-social-correspondents-wanted/

We made it to the one at Arch & got a couple of free LWA pencils but didn't hear anything about inklings (probably because we got there late since we stopped for lunch & shopping at Japan Town first). :-(

What would be a good example of doing unique/interesting things to promote mail/letter writing?

Creating a free download, hosting a letter-writing social, starting a mail art call...
You tell and show us! Part of the fun is seeing what you can come up with, rather than us just telling you what to do.

I got an inkling from Carolee on Saturday -- so thank you all very much. The Social at ARCH was great fun and Carolee and Annie did a wonderful job.

This is so cool I wish I had one, well maybe it's about time to collect some of these for a hobby.
