My favorite memory is stopping school early and having parties in elementary school! haha

My favorite Valentine memory is one of a "gift" my sister and I made our parents. I can't quite remember how old we were but we stuffed a grocery bag with newspaper and put a heart face on it, complete with hair and eyelashes. I don't quite remember whatever became of it, but I do remember how much my parents loved it.

Mine is carefully choosing and sending a card to a boy at school and... signing it! The thrill of the build up and not being anonymous was better than waiting to hear back, I never did!

I'm so curious to learn what's in it!

My favorite memory would be the first valentine I had with my partner. We had both said that we didn't care much about that particular day since we were ( still are ) so in love. On the afternoon of the 14th, he suddenly went out while I was working on computer. Just thought he had forgot some groceries ... and he came back with a gift ^_^ It was a pyjama. One of those that are so warm that make you sweat in winter ? Yup. With cute bears and red hearts. All kitch and cliché hahaha ! Not my style at all. I was so surprise and he was so shy. That was the cutiest. "I had to get you something for our first Valentine's Day. You wouldn't have forget it otherwise." Actually, until I received the gift, I hadn't realize which day it was : I wouldn't have care at all. I still have the pyjama :D ( and we didn't celebrate Valentine's Day again until last year - something like 7 years later )

My favorite Valentine's Day technically happened the day after Valentine's Day. I had a first date and spent the day saying to myself, "Ha! So close to V-Day! Wouldn't it be hilarious if this becomes a real relationship and it becomes some funny story about how the first date was sooooo close?"
...and now we're married and it's not that funny a story, but we still giggle over it.

My favorite Valentine's Day memory is simply the fact that every Valentine's Day is going to be the same, and I love it! We'll both wake up to cards on the kitchen table or propped up against the bathroom mirror. For dinner, we'll make fettuccine alfredo with chicken and share a nice bottle of blush wine. Then we'll snuggle up on the couch with a movie. We'll go out for a "date" some other night when it's not so crowded and busy, but for Valentine's Day, we'll enjoy each other's company on our own at-home date.

Having a summer picnic in the living room, all my favorites made for me, while it snowed outside.

awww...Sugene was my first zine purchase!
My favorite Valentine memory is from 2002. My (now) husband and I were just friends then, and he left a box of chocolates at my door. Even though I tripped over it and fell over, it was the sweetest thing someone had ever done for me for Valentines :)

Many years ago, my husband gave me a Lomo LC-A camera for Valentine's Day. It reignited my love for photography and remains the most memorable Valentine's Day memory -- sitting on the floor in our kitchen with all the pieces spread out on the floor.

When I was a kid, my mom put Hostess Sno Balls in my lunch on Valentine's Day. When I opened that lunchbag and discovered those two fluffy flourescent pink mounds of processed sugar-y goodness, I was in heaven!
(And... for anyone wondering what the heck a Hostess Sno Ball is [I was *shocked* to discover that some people did not know!] here's a link: http://www.hostesscakes.com/snoballs.asp)

My boyfriend in High School arrived at all of my classes a few minutes before I did and put a flower with a little note tied to it on my desk. I didn't see him at all during the school day but when we met up after school, he had one more flower and a letter that he had written me. I will always remember how much thought and effort he put into that day for me.

My favorite Valentine's Day memory is from my childhood, when my mother gave me a few small heart trinkets before I left for school. I remember that she held them out to me in her hand, and there were three or four things - charms, a candy, maybe a sticker. I don't remember what they were, but the gesture of a small gift was the most meaningful.
Another special memory is of baking and icing heart-shaped sugar cookies with friends from grad school. Such sweet memories . . .

My favorite Valentine's Day memories were of those times when I was still a child and the valentines cards I gave were to my classmates and besties. They were more innocent times, before the day brought angst and anguish.
I do partake in Valentines Day these days but I remind myself it's more important to show love all year around, rather than to just focus on the one day.

Sadly, my husband and I are rarely together on Valentine's day, as he works in London. I only see him at weekends. But I'll slip a card into his bag, for him to open on the day. And he'll leave a card for me. We usually have our own little celebration when he comes home.
You might not know, but Wales has it's own version of Valentine's Day. It's Saint Dywnwen's day, on January 25.

A few years ago, V-day fell on President's Day weekend and my now-husband and I had the Monday off; we stretched it into a 5 day weekend and went to San Francisco for the first time (for either of us). On Valentine's Day we went to see the Pacific for the first time, and even though it was February and FREEZING decided the Pacific couldn't just be seen, it needed to be experienced. So we took our shoes off and dipped our feet in (and got photographic evidence of each other's shocked faces at the moment the waves hit them). I couldn't warm up the whole rest of the day, but it's a great memory. :)

My happiest Valentine's memories are of my dad bringing home little heart-shaped boxes of chocolates for me and my sisters.

During the Valentine's snow storm of 2007, I was stuck housesitting 10 miles from my husband. My husband surprised me by showing up on valentine's day with a beautifulearrings/necklace set. He took me out to a restuarant at which we can usually not get a reservation. Because of the foul weather, we had the dining room to ourselves, a perfect romantic valentine's dinner!

My favorite valentine was a heart drawn with our names on it by a little boy who liked me when I was in elementary because I liked him too. :)

Two years into our marriage things were a bit rocky and my husband, who is not normally a Velentine's kind of guy, made me a valentine he cut out of pink and red paper and on it he wrote that he feared he would never be perfect but from that day forward he was going to make sure he was the best possible husband he could be. He totally has been and this August we'll celebrate our 19th anniversary.

This is going to be my best Valentines so far. My daughter (4) is getting involved with daddy to do something nice for Mommy. We'll see how it goes but it's taking me until the 10th to get everything in place and she is having a ball.

Valentine's day: Hyde park, croissants and hot chocolate, swings, feeding the ducks, climbing trees, searching for four leaf clovers, running for cover from a sudden shower to a gazebo covered in roses.

My favorite Valentine memory? Getting married exactly one week after Valentines day....Feb 14 was a lovely warm-up......and still happily married many years later...

Mine was when my now boyfriend messaged me on OKC last year on V-Day. I was getting surgery that day, and he told me I needed to get better so he could take me out. The surgery was easy peasy because I couldn't wait to meet him! A week later, I met him. We soon started going steady after that!

I met Sugene at zine fest in SF years ago and she's been one of my favorite postal people ever since.
My favorite valentine moment was sending MC a box of vegan chocolate. All that anticipation

My favorite Valentine's Day memory would be from 2001. I was 16 and had been working my first job for a month. It was in the town next to mine and I was the "new girl" and had just begun making friends. On Valentine's Day I arrived to work and my coworkers hurried me to see what had arrived for me. It was a lovely balloon bouquet and the card was signed from "Guess who?" I racked my brain to discover who it could be from, while all the time the "mysterious" balloons gave me desirable attention at work. Two days later the mystery was still unsolved and I spoke on the phone with my grandmother. I told her all about my secret admirer and all the speculation surrounding the balloons to which she said "Oh goooood! I'm glad to see those went over well!!" The balloons were from my grandmother. :) I just lost her this past November, but the memory is still fresh like yesterday and not a Valentine's Day comes or goes that I don't think about my "secret admirer".

My favorite Valentine's day memory is making valentines with my mom. We would pull out a big bin of doilies, lace, vintage stickers, glitter and make valentines for my whole class every year when I was a kid!
Thanks for the giveaway!
