My pen pal Alan sent me a letter recently with some information about a local post called Toast Postes. An Internet search revealed no hint of the local post, but it did tell me that there is a Toast, North Carolina and that people in the United Kingdom think it's fun to mail themselves pieces of toast and make videos about it. I found two nearly identical You Tube videos of the feat.
Funny. Weird. I love it. The first video is probably the progenitor of the second considering its upload date. (I also like it more because The Unicorns are one of my favorite bands.)
This is hilarious and I love it!

I had a zine friend in the late 90s who included in an issue of her zine a list of weird things she'd mailed. One of them was a slice of Kraft cheese, one was a banana, another was toast, I'm pretty sure. I will have to see if I can find it, it's something I hung on to because the silliness of it made me really happy.

On last night's The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, author Sloane Crosley pointed out that you can mail a coconut. Craig thought it would be a great idea to send it around the world, so he gave it to Sloane to take back to New York and then send back to him. He said he'd like to send it on after that, so maybe they'll have a little postal project on the show!

Agreed, the first one is better. They must have really heavy toast in Sheffield; to need three second class stamps it must weigh about a pound!
Greg Byrd seems to have disappeared off the net but there are pictures of stamps from Planet Toast if you search for them.
