This is your last minute reminder that Sunday is Mother's Day in the United States. Didn't get a gift or a card? Don't panic. Write your mom a letter and mail it today. I also like to write my friends who are moms around this time too. It's a fun way to reconnect if life has gotten in the way of letter writing.
P.S. A funny story about the boxes above. I had to take them to the counter because they are over 13 ounces. The clerks were very impressed that the stamps worked so well the decorations; then they stuck bar codes all over them. Oh the madness of mail art.
They do that here too, it drives me bonkers. I've started to say loudly "my friend is a philatelist" and look pointedly at the envelope and stamp. Some of the clerks get the message, others just carry on regardless!

Do you ever "pre-cancel" official postage (or fauxstage) with LWA ink stamps? It strikes me that they would be very cool-looking, but don't know how the PO would feel (my understanding is that official cancellation stamps use special ink so they can tell if stamps get reused).

I know what you mean! I think it sometimes depends on the clerk. Some seem to limit the stickers and where they put them, others not so much...two years in a row I used a number of cute stamps and cute address labels to mail boxes of cookies for Christmas. If I recall right, one year, there were like two bar codes added-next year, just a priority sticker to be sure it got the right treatment...not sure if there's rules about what they're supposed to put on, or...but at least they let us mail it! :)
