The July U.S.P.S. new stamp issues all feel appropriate for Summer. There's certainly a boys' club feel with the men and trucks, but it doesn't bother me. I think think it's interesting how they all seem to compliment each other. Kudos to the stamp release schedulers if they did that on purpose.
The Jaime Escalante stamp was released on July 13. It honors the notable teacher of math and is a lovely portrait. I really like the subtle chalkboard in the background. MORE TEACHERS ON STAMPS, I say! We've also got the Pickup Trucks. The classic cars stamps feature the 1938 International Harvester D-2, the 1948 Ford F-1, the 1953 Chevrolet, and the 1965 Ford F-100. They are a new booklet stamp available as of July 15th. Still to come is the stamp in the Literary Arts series featuring American author Henry James. It's a new 3-ounce stamp and will be released on the 31st of July.
I like the Henry James stamp, actually all of them. I like the truck ones mostly for the simple colors.
