I try to do a lot of homemade giving at the holidays. Last year, I made jam and syrup. This year, I made caramels. Turns out caramels are a lot easier and less expensive to ship than jam. I'd love to send cookies, but I keep my kitchen gluten-free and a mailable gluten-free cookie is something I've yet to find.
However, if you're into all the flourful goodness and are thinking about mailing cookies, this guide at Chowhound has all the tips you need. Additionally, here's 10 cookie recipes that are sturdy and non-perishable enough for the journey. What do you make and mail for holiday gifts? Any tips to share?
This year I am playing Scrooge and only mailing cards and/or gifts to people who mailed me a card and/or gift last year.
But I am still making my Crème-de-Menthe brownies for locals! Donovan maybe I can arrange a delivery!

I sent several boxes of ricciarelli today. I find they travel well and keep well, too. (I mail them in a cardboard box though, not a bubble mailer or similar.)
As far as I know they are gluten free from the get-go, but I always get caught out on allergens and intolerances.
There is for example this recipe which says it is gluten free:

We try to mail cookies/brownies to our family every year. I like to find cute tins, etc. on clearance to use to send the next year. Often I find USPS Regional Rate boxes the cheapest way to go. We freeze the cookies in the tins (and use bags-we like to buy bread bags-to separate the cinnamon ones from others) then pop them in the boxes frozen the day we mail them. In cold weather they can stay pretty cold and get there fresh enough. Of course, I try to decorate the box when I can! This year I made some low sodium ones for an uncle with health problems-turned out better than expected!
