L.W.A. member Aaron sent us this link from the BBC about the Bridegroom Oak in Germany. The oak, legend has it, was a place that forbidden lovers passed secret messages to one another via knothole. Later, when they were finally allowed to marry, they consecrated their union beneath its branches. Thus the tradition of writing letter looking for love to the tree was born. Many claim to have found love through the tree. Even the former postman for the route met his wife via Bridegroom Oak letter! The tree is the only one in the world that has its own mailing address. Deutsche Post says it gets about a thousand letters a year.
