Everyone writes letters in their own way. Some people require a meditative silence, others can scribe their thoughts anywhere. I'm somewhere between. I can't seem to focus in complete quiet. What really works for me is either writing outside on my porch or in a cafe or coffeehouse. If I can't get out, I'll keep myself company with "Chill Hop".
I'm not a big music lover. I don't listen to the radio. I once, hilariously, turned to my husband and said, "I am an old. Please, what is Trap Music?" He knows and cares far more about music than I. We also share a home office/studio space. So, sometimes he'll put something on and I'll really like it. Well, I really, really like this. The slight movement in the animation and the relaxing music work together to help me compose my letters. There's a few different YouTube videos up and sometimes they stream live, like the radio I suppose, but through YouTube.
Since it helps me work, I'm sharing. Do you write your letters to music? What kind?
I need silence or just ambient sounds (birdsong, wind, traffic). If the radio's on then it will be quietly and not speech; even song lyrics must be in an incomprehensible language. I can't think in a room with a TV playing.
Incidentally, this video puzzles me. The person is writing left handed but only on the left hand pages. Do people do this? Or was it originally right-handed in something like Hebrew or Arabic, and has been flipped?

I have trouble writing in silence, but anything with words (tv, songs with lyrics) makes it impossible for me to concentrate. Lately I've been loving the Hot Club Jazz Radio on Pandora. It's like the music from the tv show "Jeeves & Wooster"! Love it. ;)

I like to listen to BBC radio 4/4extra. They broadcast dramas, comedies, news, and documentaries. Today I listened to a dramatisation of "A Study in Scarlet", by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Otherwise I listen to classica music.

I absolutely LOVE this! This is exactly what I like to listen to. Thank you for sharing! I have a zillion playlists saved on spotify and youtube. Spotify has a playlist called Atmospheric Calm that is fantastic! On youtube there's a channel called Ambient that's great. Also this website is amazing http://eternell.net/
