After the dynamite releases of August, I find myself a bit ho-hum about these. Those Birds in Winter stamps are nice, but like birds on stamps is about as exciting as cars on stamps. And also, didn't we just do winter birds? I do think the Hot Wheels cars are fun, but I don't think I will have a lot of use for them, which, come to think about it, is exactly how I feel about the toys. If you like John Lennon or the Music Icons series, I don't think you'll find anything objectionable about the stamp. It's nice to have a John Lennon stamp. He was a stamp collector. I think he'd've been pretty thrilled. Last but not least is the stamp Honoring First Responders. There's a lot to like about it. I wonder if there was some sort of international initiative, as Canada just released a similar stamp series.
P.S. The Hot Wheels stamps release on the 29th. All others are available now.
Agree on all points. I only bought the John Lennon stamps from this bunch. Overall I find the choices this year ho hum.

I sorta wish they'd come out with a new line of postcard stamps. I realize that postcards probably aren't a very large part of USPS operations these days, but I really like them, and I don't care for the Sea Shells set at all. Heck, I wish the Birds in Winter set were postcard stamps; I've still got a bunch of the previous winter birds release.

I agree 100%!

I haven't seen the full sheet of the Hot Wheels ones, but it will be a total missed opportunity if the track doesn't connect from stamp to stamp. I feel like a lot of these stamps with plain white backgrounds are just kind of lazy design, and that's disappointing considering the beautiful work that has been featured in the past.

The image in the post is of the full sheet. Maybe theres a track on the back? I agree. It seems lazy.

Joe, I bet postcards are more popular today than in recent history with Postcards to Voters and more people writing to their Reps. I know of a whole lot of people who are buying rolls of postcard stamps lately...people who haven't been to the post office in years ;) I totally agree that they should expand some designs. Those shells make me sad and I'm almost done with my last roll of those older graphic birds.

Those birds would be so cute as postcard stamps! I also hope other countries follow suit with First Responder stamps.

@kimberly:
Hm. Perhaps I should send a heartfelt request to the Postmaster General. On a postcard. :)

Update: my postcard to the Postmaster General (with a neat 35¢ Glenn Curtiss Airmail stamp from a bunch I got on eBay) will go into the postbox tomorrow morning. =)
