My only problem with envelope linings has to do with how I open envelopes. I like to rip right through the top seam with a letter opener- Ziiiiiiiiip! And when I do that, I miss out on liners! I don't think I'm alone in this. I think there's a good number of gorgeously lined envelopes that never get appreciated due to envelope opening conventions. What to do? Well, I have an idea.
Introducing the Envelope Liner Alert Stamp! Alert the letter recipient that art awaits inside and that they should open their envelope with care. This will be especially helpful if you want to do something very experimental, like line with fabric or create an artistic drawing secreted away to pop-up as long as the flap is lifted in a special way. Can you tell I've been thinking about this for a while?
Where is that amazing pigeon liner paper??? I want it so much!!!

Really? Well, its scraps leftover from when I make the envelopes from the pigeon envelopes, but I have considered putting it for sale as Pigeon Feathers.
Are you into it?

I think the original idea with lined envelopes is that the flap is sealed only with a sticker or minimal moisture. That way the envelope can be opened so that the liner is a showcase for the letter.
I gave up on all this because no one seemed to notice my envelope liners anyways. But I have some beautiful scraps from envelope liners of years gone by, esp. some in letters from my Grandma.

And thats why I made the stamp- so that people would notice!

I'm like you, I zip my envelopes open at the seam. This is a good little alert for something extra-special inside.

Is the love of pigeons unusual? I would buy it if you put it up for sale!
