Join the Toronto Letter Writers Society at Toronto's First Post Office on Sunday, December 8th for an afternoon of letters to Santa and other epistolary fun. Printers Row Literary Festival Letter Writing Social
Join us at the Printers Row Lit Fest this year on Saturday, June 8th! From 1PM - 4PM we'll be out with free stationery, supplies, and a typewriter sharing the letter love with those attending the festival. See our faces, listen to us nerd out on mail, enjoy the silence as we scribble letters, ask us mail questions, all that good stuff! If you're in Chicago or nearby, this is a really great event even if you don't count us. I have found a lot of good things here over the years, from brain food to mail art materials. One year, I got the most beautiful marbled paper... Anyways, come on out and write a letter!

Postcards and Puppies
I am delighted that there are far too many socials happening nowadays to post them all individually when they happen, but sometimes there's something special about one, and I feel the need to share. L.W.A. Member Kimmie has set up the following event and I love the idea of involving fur friends as well as pen friends. It will be an evening for anyone who appreciates snail mail, postage stamps, and puppies! Have a cup of tea and write a thank you note to your best friend, send a Mother's Day card, wrap up National Letter Writing Month on a good note. Bring your dog if you have one, and definitely bring your address book! Pens and supplies will be provided; stationery is from their gracious sponsor La Papierre. PDXCC Turns Four!
For four glorious, mail-full years, the PDXCC has been meeting on the third Tuesday every month at IPRC. Their next meeting on Tuesday 1/15 will be their fourth anniversary! Beginning at 6PM, they'll be celebrating with a raffle, auction, snacks and beverages! Portland's typewriter czar @ethanpdx will also be hosting a typewriter bar and bringing in some special Hermes machines for attendees to try out. All are welcome and the meetings are always free. If you want to participate in the raffle or auction, you'll want to bring cash or check. Please do go if you're in the Portland area. Say hello to all of my friends and pen pals. I wish I could be there!

We are like the Proud Mama making you look at school photos of all of our progeny. Now, I'm not saying that these groups wouldn't exist without us. Heck, some may not even know we're around, and that's okay (it kinda smarts, but it's okay). But I want all of our members to know about them. Kathy and I cannot be everywhere, and we have always been of the opinion that the more letter writing groups out there, the merrier. Challengers Comics + Correspondence Club for August
This Thursday, August the 16th, there is a Challengers Comics + Correspondence Club at Challengers Comics + Conversation. Join me from 7PM-8PM for a night of sending fan letters to the creators of Monstress! I'm sure Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda would love to hear from you. I'm gonna bring in a dip pen and ink for some thematically appropriate writing.

Letter Lounge
Looking for letter writing and live in or near London? Well, we've found you something! A tip about the Letter Lounge came in from Member Anna about this service. It seems to me to be a service that will set up organizations with a letter social. The founder, Claire Medcalf, was written about by The Independent back in 2011 and Letter Lounge is still going strong.
So, if you can't work it out for yourself (and I believe you can, here's some tips), the Letter Lounge will handle everything you need. I like that "cake" is listed among their supplies. Thanks to Anna for the tip. Remember that we love hearing from you. Send us your recommendations by letter or email or leave us a comment!

San Diego Letter Writers for Operation Gratitude
This seems like a marvelous event and a lovely way to celebrate Independence Day, if you're in to that. The San Diego Letter Writers will be at Seaside Papery on July 7th collecting letters of gratitude for the military and first responders! Operation Gratitude will then distribute the letters in care packages that will be sent to veterans, active duty soldiers, new recruits and first responders across the world. All writing supplies will be available free of charge thanks to generous donations from stationers.
